INITIATIVES

MIS Council initiatives support member efforts to improve internal IT processes, streamline e-commerce processes with customers and identify best-practice methodologies for managing IT and IS departments. These include:

Customer E-commerce Matrix
The MIS Council Customer E-commerce Matrix is an online tool that enables members to identify the e-commerce standards and technologies required by all major aftermarket customers (data receivers). It includes product information (PIES), catalog (AAIA legacy and ACES), Web Services (IPO), EDI and delivery method information. Manufacturers can obtain the requirements of their top customers or prospects and can view versions, fields, documents and sunset dates. Adoption levels of standards and specific fields are also included.

MIS Council members have free access to the Matrix, while other suppliers can subscribe for an annual fee. Click here to learn more about and to access the Matrix.

Internal Data Management
Aftermarket and heavy duty parts suppliers are challenged to synchronize e-commerce data with customers, but they can simplify the process by first developing better internal data management (IDM) practices. The MIS Council’s IDM Program provides information to help suppliers identify best practices for implementing and sustaining a strategic effort to get their internal data in order. Successful IDM helps executives make better real-time business decisions, reduce costs associated with redundant and erroneous data management and improve e-commerce relations with customers. Following are the major elements of the program:

EDI
The former MIS Council X.12 Committee developed automotive aftermarket EDI guidelines that are based on ASC X.12 standards. These are available for use at no cost.
