DELPHI PRODUCT AND SERVICE SOLUTIONS WINS
2003 AFTERMARKET WEB CHALLENGE™
Research Triangle Park, N.C., November 10, 2003 – The MEMA Information Services Council (MIS Council) recently recognized http://go.delphi.com from Delphi Product and Service Solutions of Troy, Mich. as Winner of the 2003 Aftermarket Web Challenge™ (AWC), the aftermarket’s oldest and most recognized award for excellence in Web applications.
This year’s competition, which was held Oct. 14 in St. Pete Beach, Fla., during the MIS Council’s annual Fall Conference, focused on corporate extranets. Finalists were judged on how well their business-to-business extranets streamline supply chain processes, reduce costs and improve relations with their customers.
“Winning this award is an honor, and we are pleased to share our application with the MIS Council,“ said Mike Glenn, Delphi Global e-Business Manager and Challenge presenter for Delphi. “Our goals in developing go.delphi.com were to provide premium information to all our channel partners so the right part is picked and installed the first time and to support our distributors by offering e-commerce capabilities that help make business with Delphi easier.”
Launched at the 2002 AAPEX show and updated with enhancements throughout 2003, go.delphi.com provides extensive resources for Delphi customers including:
• a comprehensive global Internet catalog with more than 15,000 product images,
• e-commerce for distributors,
• a partner locator feature,
• service diagnostic integration (DS800) and
• private branding and dynamic catalog content.
The MIS Council Board of Governors selected three finalists in August 2003 based on written applications and screen shots of applicant extranet sites. Finalists were Delphi Product and Service Solutions, Dana Brake and Chassis of McHenry, Ill., and WIX Filtration Systems of Gastonia, N.C.
“As aftermarket manufacturers, we realize the important role extranets play in providing service to our customers,” said Frank Guido, Director of Systems and E-business Development for Robert Bosch Corporation and chairman of the MIS Council Board of Governors. “The competition provides a forum for the MIS Council to establish the quality standard for aftermarket Web applications. After the competition, several conference attendees indicated that they would incorporate some of the concepts presented during this year’s competition into their corporate extranets.”
“The sharing of ideas is one of the highlights of the annual Aftermarket Web Challenge and is the primary purpose behind the MIS Council Fall Conference,” said Chris Gardner, MIS Council Director. “Each year, MIS Council members gain insight into processes and applications that can help improve their companies’ operations and returns on investment.”
