Inaugural Aftermarket Web Challenge™ Winner Announced by MEMA Information Services Council

Research Triangle Park, N.C., October 30, 2001 - The MEMA Information Services Council (MIS Council) announced today that ArvinMeritor's XpresswayPlus.com won the inaugural Aftermarket Web Challenge™ (AWC), which was established to recognize and promote excellence in Web development and design in the aftermarket. XpresswayPlus.com is an online ordering system for ArvinMeritor truck-related parts and components. The MIS Council, a peer group of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), is composed of E-commerce and IT (Information Technology) professionals who work for automotive aftermarket suppliers. The Challenge was held at the Council's annual Fall Conference at St. Pete Beach, Fla., October 14-17.

ArvinMeritor, a premier $7-billion global supplier of a broad range of integrated systems, modules and components to the motor vehicle industry, won the AWC by competing against four other automotive parts manufacturers, including Cardone Industries, Dana Brake & Chassis, Haldex Brake Systems and KEM Manufacturing. Participating companies demonstrated their Web sites in the following categories: Overview, Customer Service/Technical Support, Design/Navigation/Marketing and Database/Parts Look Up.

"We are honored to have been selected as the winner of this award among a group of our peers," said Chris Loerch, director of e-Business for ArvinMeritor. "Aftermarket suppliers have made tremendous advances in building online applications to service existing customers and attract new ones. This award is a reflection of the hard work of our internal staff and contracted service providers to make XpresswayPlus.com a success."

The MIS Council's board of governors developed the competition, established judging criteria and selected the finalists. MIS Council members attending the Fall Conference reviewed and voted on the site presentations.

"The Aftermarket Web Challenge created exactly what we had hoped," said Ken Brown, 2001 chairman of the MIS Council. "Our conference attendees exhibited a high level of interest in evaluating and comparing the sites of other automotive manufacturers. In fact, several companies already have committed to competing in 2002."
